A descriptive cross-sectional clinic survey  at three ART clinics in the Zomba district was conducted in April 2019 as part of an Mphil study. Random sampling was conducted for all clients attending their ART clinics on specific days.  The study surveyed 382 participants living with HIV. In addition to socio-demographic and HIV related variables, the following measures were included:

· The Self-Reporting Questionnaire 20 item (SRQ-20) was used to asses symptoms of depression and anxiety.

· The Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test (AUDIT) assessed alcohol use.
