In January 2020, traditional musicians from Lesotho met in Morija, inspired by the sculptures of Samuele Makoanyane, who was commissioned by the ethnomusicologist Percival Kirby in 1934. This forms part of the Lesotho Music and Instrument Research Project. Mathabiso Mothae holding a murhupe (Xhosa unbraced mouth-resonated musical bow, mrhube), photographed by Paul Weinberg in 2020.
