Chapter 5 Shape of Grief (2023) in Five Movements: Movement 1
Movement 1
Participants: Kamil Adam Hassim, Lungiswa Plaatjies, Nomakrestu Xakathugaga, Kathyayini Dash
Five musical-scapes were recorded and produced post the thesis performance of Shape of Grief 2023. Each movement begins from the vantage point of each of the participants and moves around to complete a circle. They are called movements because the songs bleed into each other becoming musical scapes rather than a collection of songs. They are long musical route-scapes that moves amongst the four of us, as we recall not the performance per se, but the range of feelings generated alongside the performance. Together, they can be understood as a sonic mapping of the performance built of five route-scapes drawn by the four of us.
This is the first movement of The Shape of Grief (2023) in Five Movements.
Beginning with Nomakrestu Xakathugaga and ending with Kamil Adam Hassan.
