This video clip was recorded by Bronwen Clacherty on 23 February 2018. It shows the arrival at Mwatima Ali Cave, in Charawe village, Zanzibar; people hang red and white fabric pieces at the entrance to the cave to thank the keeper of the cave for their blessings. This video accompanies Bronwen Clacherty’s (2021) PhD dissertation entitled “Understanding the History of Women's Lives in Zanzibar Through Song and Story: A Gendered Perspective.”
