This audio clip was created by Bronwen Clacherty in July 2019, Cape Town, South Africa. It is a soundscape that Clacherty created for her doctoral performance of Tia Maji, which was performed on 2–4 October 2019 at the Theatre Arts Admin Collective, Observatory, Cape Town, South Africa. This soundscape is found in the third movement of Tia Maji and was created from recordings of the research participants singing and working as seaweed farmers. This soundscape accompanies Bronwen Clacherty’s (2021) PhD dissertation entitled “Understanding the History of Women's Lives in Zanzibar Through Song and Story: A Gendered Perspective.”
