Work towards a quantitative stock assessment of the round herring (Etrumeus whiteheadi) population distributed off the west and south coasts of South Africa has begun. Initial results, which show a promising ability for the model to fit the data, are shown to stimulate discussion and feedback on some key model assumptions prior to a baseline assessment being selected and key sensitivity tests being run.
Virtual presentation to the Small Pelagic Scientific Working Group, Cape Town, 26 August 2022: 24pp, titled: " Assessment of South African round herring: Initial results."
