The quantitative assessment of the South African anchovy resource has been updated from that last estimated with four more years’ data and a few updates to the model structure. The model continues to assume a Beverton Holt stock recruitment relationship and time‐invariant natural mortality of 1.2year1.The resource abundance is estimated to be about half of the historical (1984‐2019) average, with a total biomass of 1.7 million tons in November 2019.
