Brief: Older Persons and Community Care in Malawi

The Older Persons and Community Care in Malawi brief focuses on the place of care of older persons and presents the experiences and challenges of older persons who age in contexts of food insecurity, poor crop production and limited social protection. The findings show how older persons with multiple care needs experience poor access to housing, transport and medical services. The findings show that very few older persons were able to focus on their health concerns as their basic need for food was not secure. The report presents the voices of older persons, family caregivers and community stakeholders who are calling for greater support in meeting the inceasing care needs of older persons.
