This document aims to assemble information regarding the fishing patterns at Nightingale and recent CPUE trends.

It is well known that fishing at Nightingale and Inaccessible islands result in the fishing vessel operating at the one island for a few days(1- 7 days) after which, owing to reduced catch rates the boats switch to fishing at the other island – with this pattern continuing until the  TAC is caught. This is a common fishing pattern seen in many fisheries, i.e. fishermen prefer to harvest their quotas at as high a catch rate as possible.
