Recommendations on rock lobster TACs for Tristan rock lobster Jasus tristani, at Tristan, Nightingale, Inaccessible and Gough islands for the 2025/26 season
OMPs are the agreed basis to recommend rock lobster TACs for all four islands of the Tristan da Cunha Group. The application of these OMPs using the most recent CPUE and survey data (and Vessel CPUE data in the case of Tristan) for input into the various OMP formulae result in the following TAC recommendations for the 2025/26 season:
• The OMP for Tristan recommends a TAC for 2025 of 136 MT (2024 TAC 131 MT).
• The OMP for Nightingale recommends a TAC for 2025 of 95 MT (2024 TAC 95 MT).
• The OMP for Inaccessible recommends a TAC for 2025 of 118 MT (2024 TAC 116 MT).
• The OMP for Gough recommends a TAC for 2025 of 122 MT (2024 TAC=116 MT).
If an overcatch of more than 0.5 MT is taken at an island in a given season, that amount is to be taken off the TAC allocated for the following season. Thus a 0.51 MT 2024 season overcatch at Nightingale must be removed from the allocated Nightingale TAC for the 2025 season, a 2.42 MT 2024 season overcatch at Inaccessible must be removed from the allocated 2025 Inaccessible TAC and a 1.18 MT 2024 season overcatch at Tristan must be removed from the allocated 2025 Tristan TAC.
