OMPs are the agreed basis to recommend rock lobster TACs for all four islands of the Tristan da Cunha Group. Johnston and Butterworth (2024) report such calculations for the Tristan island and the Nightingale island. OMPs for Gough and Inaccessible were most recently developed in 2021 (OMP-2021) and have been used for the last three seasons to set the TACs. The intent was to update the Gough and Inaccessible assessments and then to develop new OMPs for these two islands to set the 2024/25 TACs. However, given a delay in the updated (2023/24) observer CAL data for these two islands becoming available, which are necessary to complete that work, it is recommended that the existing OMPs (OMPs-2021) are used to set the 2024/25 TACs for Gough and Inaccessible. Once these new CAL data become available, work on the updated assessments and OMP development for these two islands will continue. The final recommended TACs, after adjusting for an overcatch at Gough last season, are:

  • Gough 115 MT
  • Inaccessible 116 MT
