Using the Hydroacoustic Survey Estimates of Anchovy and Round Herring Biomass West of Cape Agulhas to Update the Interim Catch Limits

An interim initial Total Allowable Catch and an interim Precautionary Upper Catch Limit were recommended for anchovy and round herring, respectively, to enable fishing of these species during the 2024 season to begin while awaiting the results from the delayed hydroacoustic survey. In order to investigate if a recommendation to increase these interim catch limits is possible prior to the final survey results becoming available, this document considers the outputs from the pre‐agreed Harvest Control Rules for these species based off survey estimates of biomass west of Cape Agulhas only.
