The data were collected from 2017 to 2020 in the CeBER laboratories (Chemical Engineering Department/ University of Cape Town).
The dataset contains:
- Pre-leaching coal discards characterisation results (PSD, ARD static tests, XRD, XRF, elements analysis, LECO, sulphur forms, calorific value)
- Column leach experimental results (volume of leachate collected, lab temperature, pH, redox, ferrous/ferric ion and sulphate concentration, estimated iron/sulphur leached)
- Post-leaching coal discards characterisation results (ARD static/ biokinetic tests, calorific value)
