Justin O’Riain is the Director of the new interdisciplinary Institute for Communities and Wildlife in Africa and Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at UCT. He obtained his PhD at UCT in 1996 on the evolution of sociality in naked mole-rats with a subsequent postdoc on meerkats with the Universities of Cambridge and Paris. Justin joined UCT as a senior lecturer in 2002 and has served as a Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Science.
