Four Motets for Mixed Chorus

composition
posted on 2024-04-29, 08:25 authored by Martin WattMartin Watt

This musical composition, titled Four Motets for Mixed Chorus is a collection of four unaccompanied choral works on Latin and English texts from the Bible. A motet is most often a relatively short choral work on sacred texts such as from the Roman Catholic Liturgy in Latin, and in this collection, one of the works is on an English sacred text taken directly from the Bible. The motets are as follows: "Do not Fear", "Panis Angélicus", "O Magnum Mysterium", and "Laudate Dominum". This work was performed for the first time in public on 7 March 2023 by the Amici de Lumine Choir under the direction of Michaelangelo Cloete in the Baxter Concert Hall, Cape Town, South Africa.
